Stoneware and glaze testing
Current work focuses on bowls, mugs, cups, and other functional pieces.
Bodhi Swan is a Brisbane-based ceramic artist making wheel-thrown functional work and teaching pottery classes.
Bodhi works out of Brisbane Ceramics and teaches at both Brisbane Ceramics in Milton and The Ceramic Studio in Indooroopilly. He first got into ceramics through Isabell at the Logan Artists Association and has been building the practice over the last five years.
The work is mainly stoneware, with an interest in useful forms, glaze testing, and making pieces that feel balanced and solid in use.
The same practical approach carries into the classes. They are designed to be supportive, clear, and beginner-friendly, while still giving returning students room to improve.
"I like making pieces that feel simple, useful, and well made. A lot of the work is about repeating forms, paying attention to small changes, and letting the material do what it does."
Current work focuses on bowls, mugs, cups, and other functional pieces.
Beginners are welcome, and there is time for repetition, troubleshooting, and one-on-one help.
The studio work and the classes support each other and keep the practice practical and grounded.
This is where new forms, glaze tests, and class demos get worked out. If you want to learn in person, the classes page is the best place to start.
