Learn wheel throwing with Bodhi Swan
Learn wheel throwing with Bodhi Swan
Each session starts with an optional guided throwing lesson led by Bodhi, focusing on essential techniques like centering clay and basic throwing. Beginners are especially encouraged to join, but everyone can participate to refresh or refine their skills.
After the intro (about 20-30 minutes), you'll dive into self-guided throwing and trimming at your own pace. Bodhi will be on hand for personalized help—whether it's troubleshooting a wobbly pot, or performing "resurrection miracles" on collapsed pieces.
Your experience evolves over time: In your first week, focus on throwing to build foundational pots. The second week shifts to trimming those pieces, with extra time to throw more if you're ready. From then on, enjoy a mix of both activities to hone your craft.
For those eager to explore advanced techniques or complex forms (like handles or lids), the self-guided portion offers ample opportunity for one-on-one instruction.
Brief studio orientation, tool introduction, and wheel setup.
Focused lessons on centering, opening, pulling, and forming techniques.
Supervised practice time with individual guidance and support.
Label pieces for drying, discuss next steps, and studio cleanup.
